Triodos Bank UK appoints Mark Clayton COO

Triodos Bank UK has confirmed the appointment of Mark Clayton as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Triodos provides specialist sustainable finance for businesses and organisations committed to positive cultural, social or environmental impact.

In his role, Mark will oversee customer operations and financial crime, large project implementation, facilities management, and ICT services. Mark’s extensive experience in the banking sector will be instrumental in driving Triodos Bank’s mission and operations forward.

Mark brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously served as COO at Unity Trust Bank, another member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV). Prior to that, Mark had a 23-year career at HSBC, where he held various senior roles and led large teams within the retail banking division. Notably, he was Head of Premier Distribution, where he spearheaded the strategic growth of the Retail Premier and international business. Mark also holds a degree in financial services in association with the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

Speaking about his appointment, Mark Clayton said, “Having transitioned away from the mainstream banking sector a few years ago, I’ve found fulfilment in roles where values steer decision-making. I look forward to leveraging Triodos’ influential platform to drive meaningful change through sustainable banking practices.”
